A year ago, on this date, my father passed away. I was a good man, a father of four, a son, a grandson, a grandfather, a husband, a part of a large family. He was loved though he didn't think so, by many people. He served in the Navy, but from what I remember of him, he was a science teacher in high schools. He had regrets as most would, but I don't hold them against him. He was a great man, loving... He was my father... I miss him, and in his honor, tonight, I went out and bought a dinner of Asian food. A bouquet of white lilies which I put in a vase on the table with dinner. After dinner, I cut the best lily from the bouquet and took it outside with me, had a cigarette and burned the flower. As the sweet smoke filled my nose, I said a short prayer for my father.
Dear God,
Please keep watch over my father,
Keep him at your side,
And let him continue to look over me.
Amen
